Inventory Control Security: Overview

If security is turned on for your Sage ERP Accpac system, users without Inventory Control security assignments have no access to Inventory Control.

To view records and to print reports in Inventory Control, users must belong to a security group with Common Inquiry permission.

Common Inquiry permission by itself does not let users edit any Inventory Control records. To allow users in a security group to edit records or perform processing tasks, you must grant the group access to additional tasks from the following list:

  • Price/Sales Analysis Inquiry

    Allows users to preview and print Price Lists and Contract Pricing reports.

  • Stock Control Inquiry

    Allows users to preview and print Overstocked Items (available print options: Quantity Greater than Maximum Level, Quantity Greater Than Projected Sales), Reorder Report, Slow Moving Items, Inventory Movement, Aged Inventory, Bin/Shelf Labels and Item Labels reports.

    If the Serialized Inventory and Lot Tracking license is installed, users can also preview and print.

  • Transaction Inquiry

    Allows users to view Receipts, Shipments, Adjustments, Transfers, Assemblies, Internal Usage, Transaction History Inquiry, Sales Statistics and Transaction Statistics. As well, users can preview and print the Sales Statistics, Transaction Statistics, Transaction History, Posting Journals, G/L Transactions, Transfer Slips and Transaction Listing reports.

    If the Serialized Inventory and Lot Tracking license is installed, users can also preview and print the Recall, Lot Number Inquiry and Serial Number Inquiry reports.

  • Cost Inquiry

    The Cost Inquiry permission must always be combined with Common Inquiry permission. It allows users to view the same icons as for Common Inquiry plus Costing information in Location Details, Bills of Material, Kitting Items and LIFO/FIFO costing information on Item Status report.

    If the Serialized Inventory and Lot Tracking license is installed, users can also preview and print the Lot Number Inquiry and Serial Number Inquiry reports.

  • Stock Control Inquiry (gives Cost Inquiry rights)

    Allows users to view same icons as Cost Inquiry plus LIFO/FIFO Inquiry. As well users can view, preview and print the Item Valuation, Overstocked Items (all available print options), Reorder Report, Slow Moving Items, Inventory Movement, Aged Inventory, Bin/Shelf Labels, Item Labels and Location Details (includes cost information) reports.

  • Price/Sales Analysis Inquiry (gives Cost Inquiry rights)

    Allows users to view same icons as Cost Inquiry. As well, users can preview and print the Price Lists, Contract Pricing, Selling Price/Margin Analysis, Markup Analysis, Location Details (includes cost information), Bills of Material / Kitting Items / BOM Component Usage Inquiry (includes costing information), Item Status (includes LIFO/FIFO costing information) reports.

  • Setup Maintenance

    Allows users to view the Items, Vendor Details, Customer Details, Location Details, Reorder Quantities and Manufacturers’ Items icons.

    Allows users to add, update and delete Options, G/L Integration, Item Structures, Segment Codes, Locations, Categories, Account Sets, Units of Measure, Weight UOMs, Bills of Material, Copy BOMs, Update BOMs, Kitting Items and Price List Codes.

    Allows users to preview and print the Alternate Items, Vendor Details, Customer Details, Options, G/L Integration, Item Mappings, Item Structures, Segment Codes, Locations, Categories, Account Sets, Units of Measure, Weight UOMs, Bills of Material, Kitting Items, Price List Codes, Reorder Quantities, Item Status, Location Details, Manufacturers’ Items, BOM Component Usage Inquiry and Item Status reports.

    Costing information will not appear on the Bills of Material, Kitting Items, Item Status, and Location Details reports unless Cost Inquiry permission is also granted.

  • Transaction Optional Fields

    Allows users to add, update and delete optional fields in adjustments, assemblies, receipts, shipments, transfers, and other Inventory Control functions that create transactions automatically.

  • Item Maintenance

    Allows users to add, update and delete Items, Item Wizard, Vendor Details, Customer Details, Location Details, Reorder Quantities and Manufacturers’ Items.

    Allows users to preview and print the Alternate Items, Vendor Details, Customer Details, Location Details, Reorder Quantities, Item Status, and Manufacturers’ Items reports.

    Costing information will not appear on the Location Details and Item Status reports unless Cost Inquiry permission is also granted.

  • Price List Maintenance

    Allows users to view, add, update and delete Item Pricing and Contract Pricing. Users will also be able to use the Copy Item Pricing and Update Item Pricing features and preview and print the Price Lists and Contract Pricing reports.

  • Physical Inventory Maintenance (gives Cost Inquiry rights)

    Allows users to preview and print the Inventory Worksheet and Inventory Reconciliation reports; use the Generate Inventory Worksheet feature; update and delete Physical Inventory Quantities; post update and delete Inventory Reconciliation and Inventory Counts.

  • Adjustment Posting

    Allows users to post Adjustments, and use the Post Transactions feature for adjustments only. Also allows users to view, add, update and delete Location Details; preview and print the Location Details, Transactions Listing (adjustments only) reports.

  • Assembly Posting

    Allows user to post Assemblies and use the Post Transactions feature for assemblies only. Users can view, add, update and delete Location Details; preview and print the Location Details report as well as the Transaction Listing report for for assemblies only.

  • Internal Usage Posting

    Allows users to post Internal Usage Transactions and use the Post Transactions for internal usage transactions only. Users can view, add, update and delete Location Details; preview and print the Location Details report as well as the Transaction Listing report for internal usage only.

  • Receipt Posting

    Allows users to post and update Receipts and use the Post Transactions feature for receipts only. Users can view, add, update and delete Location Details; preview and print the Location Details report as well as the Transaction Listing report for receipts only.

  • Shipment Posting

    Allows users to post shipments and use the Post Transactions feature for shipments only. Users can view, add, update and delete Location Details; preview and print the Location Details report as well as the Transaction Listing report for shipments only.

  • Transfer Posting

    Allows users to post Transfers and use the Post Transactions feature for transfers only. Users can view, add, update and delete Location Details; preview and print the Location Details report as well as the Transaction Listing report for transfers only.

  • Day End Processing

    Allows users to use the Day End Processing and Create G/L Batch features; view, add and update Sales Statistics and Transaction Statistics; view Transaction History Inquiry; view, add, update and delete Location Details; preview and print the Transaction History, Posting Journals, G/L Transactions, Sales Statistics, Transaction Statistics and Location Details reports.

  • Clear History/ Inactive Records

    Allows users to Delete Inactive Records (account sets, categories, items, locations, and BOMs) and Clear History (transaction history, transaction statistics, sales statistics, printed posting journals, serial numbers, printed labels, receipts, expired contract prices, transactions).

  • Import I/C Data (combine with other security rights)

    Allows users to import the following records: Receipts, Shipments, Adjustments, Transfers, Assemblies, Items, Vendor Details, Customer Details, Item Pricing, Contract Pricing, Location Details, Reorder Quantities, Sales Statistics, Transaction Statistics, Item Structures, Segment Codes, Locations, Categories, Account Sets, Bills of Material, Price List Codes, Physical Inventory Quantities, Manufacturer’s Items, Kitting Items, Units of Measure and Weight Units of Measure.

  • Export I/C Data (combine with other security rights)

    Allows users to export the following records: Receipts, Shipments, Adjustments, Transfers, Assemblies, Items, Vendor Details, Customer Details, Item Pricing, Contract Pricing, Location Details, Reorder Quantities, Sales Statistics, Transaction Statistics, Item Structures, Segment Codes, Locations, Categories, Account Sets, Bills of Material, Price List Codes, Physical Inventory Quantities, Manufacturer’s Items, Kitting Items, Units of Measure and Weight Units of Measure

  • Dashboard

    Allows users to view Sage ERP Accpac Dashboards that pertain to Inventory Control.

  • Item Developer Inquiry

    Developers of third-party programs, including macros, must incorporate this permission in their security structures.
